Boehm’s Candies is excited to present the world’s rarest chocolate.  Thought to be extinct for almost 100 years, the rediscovery of Pure Nacional cacao in a remote canyon in Peru led to the creation of this exquisite chocolate, Fortunato No. 4.  Inside the cacao pods used to make the chocolate, 40% of the beans are white,  which never existed before in Pure Nacional.  The white beans add a nutty note to the fruity, floral flavor of the chocolate, leaving a rich and velvety finish on your palate.

I’m not sure my palette is sophisticated enough to tell this apart from other high grade chocolates but my wife insists it’s the best chocolate she’s ever eaten and well worth the price. Curiously, the Nacional is a type of forastero bean and forastero beans are usually used in bulk chocolate. But Nacional Fortunata #4 is different – one of the best cocao beans on the planet. (Google the New York Times article on the rare Nacional cocao beans).
